My brother is an artist and he is a designer for Microsoft games. He told me when he was 17 that the trick to drawing was making life come alive on paper. You do that in these drawings.

In devoting a whole year to drawing every day, your skills will improve (steady practice does that and you will see it for yourself as the year progresses,) and you will do yourself a really big favor in learning the lesson of finishing a task you've pledged to do. Your Mom told me about your Resolution and about your pictures. She said your pictures were really neat. Sometimes Moms aren't exactly "fair" about their kids' stuff, thinking anything is great just because their kids did it. But your mom was totally right about these. Your pictures are interesting and amusing, and your expressions especially show your "eye" for art. Even more than your talent for drawing, your commitment and determination impress me. Being a hunter and a patriot I especially loved the picture of the beagle and the picture of the flag entitled God Bless America. The beagle reminded me a lot of Scruffy. Something tells me he was the inspiration for that picture. Keaton keep up the good work, you are great. I can't wait to see your rendition of two brothers pulling a net and receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost. That will be a winner.
